Victory Liner's Fare Rates, Schedules and Contact Info

For those planning to go up north, I strongly suggest riding the Victory Liner.

They take care of their drivers and make sure they're abiding to the road rules by rolling out random QA inspections, they have some of the most polite and considerate drivers I've ever encountered, and the part I love most:  they leave ON TIME!

So here's their schedule, fare matrix, and contact info encoded by your humble servant for your convenience.  You can download it, print it, or view it online -- whatever helps you with your itinerary.

The spreadsheet has 5 tabs, which will allow you to go to a specific Victory Liner terminal, such as:
  • Caloocan and Caloocan Complex
  • Cubao
  • Pasay
  • Sampaloc
  • Kamias
To see the details for each specific terminal, please click on the links at the bottom of the spreadsheet.

This is just in.

The following Cebu Pacific flights have been cancelled due to bad weather:
  • 5J 223 Cebu - Butuan (CEB-BXU)
  • 5J 224 Butuan - Cebu (BXU-CEB)
  • 5J 787 Manila - Butuan (MNL-BXU)
  • 5J 788 Butuan - Manila (BXU-MNL)

The passengers of the said flights will be re-accommodated within the next couple of days.

They can also choose to re-book within 30 days of the cancellation or refund (to Travel Fund) without penalties.

This is based on Cebu Pacific's twitlonger post.  Click here for details.

Update:  Per Cebu Pacific's Twitter reply, "refund" to Travel Fund means you can use the funds for purchasing another flight.

OceanJet - A Must-have In Your Island Hopping Itinerary!

OceanJet has ferries that can take you to and from Camiguin, Cebu, Dapitan, Dumaguete, Jagna, Bacolod, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, Tagbilaran and Siquijor.

You can choose between tourist and business class seats.

What's so special about business class?

You get to relax on the upper deck, share the space with only a few passengers, get bigger leg room, bigger and wider seats equipped with a cup holder
(see photo on the right) and...what else...

Ah! Access to upper deck open air section if you wish to take photos, get sunburned, or try your luck at seeing some dolphins.

See sunburn sample on the left. :P

What features or amenities do they have on board?

  • Wi-fi - all of their ferries have this on both seat classes.  You can use the travel time to book hotel reservations online or just check your online itinerary before getting to your destination.

  • Food concessionaire - the prices don't come cheap, but the snacks can get your tummy filled before you get to your destination.
  • Television - this is only available for airconditioned sections, obviously.  The ones I remember they showed are Pacquiao fights and some horror B movies.  There's still the internet if these bore you.
What are their rates?

Their rates range from PhP300.00 to PhP1,650.00, depending  on your destination.  I'd also like to note that they lowered their fare rates from last year's.

If you're interested in getting a 50% discount on your roundtrip ticket, I suggest you check out their LibreBalik (free return) Promo by clicking here.

Cebu Pac's Flexible Payment Options

Cebu Pac allows 3 payment methods:  Credit Card, Bancnet Online, and Payment Centers.

For this post, however, we'll just go through Payment Centers.  I believe Bancnet Online is the same as the one included in the "Payment Centers" options.

Here's how to pay aside from using a credit card:

1.  Go to http://www.cebupacificair.com and select your flight details.

2.  Once you get to the "Payment page", click on the "Payment Centers" link.  This is grayed out unless you click on it.  It's near the "Credit Card" link.

3.  On the drop-down menu, choose from the following payment options:
  • Bancnet - pay via:

  • Megalink - pay via ATMs

  • Banco de Oro - pay via over-the-counter transactions at any BDO branch

  • Metrobank - pay via ATMs

  • Robinsons Savings Bank - pay via
    • ATMs
    • Over-the-counter transactions at any Robinsons Savings Bank branch
    • i-Can mobile bills payment method
4.  Click on the box sitting beside "Yes, the booking summary is correct..."

5.  Choose between "Yes" and "No" radio buttons beside "Send Confirmation via my mobile phone..."

And you're done!

Just make sure to take note of your 14-digit confirmation number since you'll use this as the reference/account number when paying for your ticket.

Cebu Pacific's Domestic Destinations

Airline Re-booking and Cancelling Fees, et al.

Before you book and get on that flight, take a few minutes to consider its details first.  Otherwise, you might end up spending more despite bagging the cheapest airfare.

A couple of years ago, Cebu Pacific Air and AirPhil Express only had the basic fees like re-booking, cancellation, name change and prepaid baggage fees.

Now, however, I have to create separate tabs on a spreadsheet just to fit everything in one document.

Here are the fees categories when flying Cebu Pacific Air, AirPhil Express and SEAIR:
For some reason, the scroll bar is not showing up.  To see the rest of the fees, please scroll down on the spreadsheet itself.  To check out the fees under different categories, please use the tab links below.

To view the spreadsheet via Google Docs, click here.

To download the spreadsheet as a PDF file, click here.
To download the spreadsheet as an Excel file, click here.

The fees you see above are airline-specific.  Here's what you should expect to pay at the airport:

Domestic Travel:  Passenger Terminal Fee - PhP200.00/person
International Travel:

  • Airport User's Charge - PhP750.00/person
  • Travel Tax
    • PhP1,620.00/person - for Filipinos who are not permanent residents in other countries
    • PhP810.00/child - for Filipinos below 12 years old and not permanent residents of other countries
    • PhP200.00/person - for Filipino permanent residents and infants below 2 years old)
    • PhP300.00+PhP200.00 (processing fee) - for OFW dependents going to the job site
      Source:  Manila International Airport Authority

So for those who are on a limited budget, plan ahead.  That way, when your dream seat sale comes your way, you'll be ready.

Lesson learned from rebooking flights.

During a vacation with my beloved, we extended our return flight for two days because we were having so much fun. And another two days.  And another two days.
While rebooking for the nth time, I ended up with an algebraic expression in my head, which went like this:

Base fare + (rebooking fee x 4) + taxes and surcharges x 2 pax = why-didn't-i-see-this-coming???
We booked fresh flights instead.

Yup.  Better plan ahead next time.
