Ceb Pac's Flight Cancellation Update - Butuan
The following Cebu Pacific flights have been cancelled due to bad weather:
The passengers of the said flights will be re-accommodated within the next couple of days.
- 5J 223 Cebu - Butuan (CEB-BXU)
- 5J 224 Butuan - Cebu (BXU-CEB)
- 5J 787 Manila - Butuan (MNL-BXU)
- 5J 788 Butuan - Manila (BXU-MNL)
The passengers of the said flights will be re-accommodated within the next couple of days.
They can also choose to re-book within 30 days of the cancellation or refund (to Travel Fund) without penalties.

OceanJet's Libre Balik Promo!
All you have to do is make sure that you return within 7 days and your ride back is on them!
I've used the Libre Balik promo twice (Cebu - Tagbilaran) and it's such a blessing for frugal travelers. Imagine having to shell out only PhP800.00 instead of PhP1,600.00!
That's a lot of savings, if you ask me. You can use that extra moolah for upto 3 days of stay at Sugbutel or another visit at Jo's Chicken. I should've not written that down. Now I'm wishing I'm in Cebu.

How do I make a reservation?
If you're in Manila or somewhere very far from any of OceanJet's ticketing offices and would like to book in advance, here's basically what you'll have to do:
- Call OceanJet's landline via +63 (32) 255 - 7560 where you'll be given the details for the bank funds transfer;
- Pay via the bank and fax the deposit slip, together with the following details to +63 (32) 255 - 0115:
- Passenger's full name/s
- Passenger's respective age/s
- Time and date of preferred departure
- Time and date of preferred arrival
- Contact information
- Wait for a confirmation message from OceanJet's Customer Support via text or SMS.
- Present the confirmation message to OceanJet's Customer Support Specialist once at the pier.
I wish I had it, but I was informed that they only disclose it to those who are ready to make a reservation. So yeah, you have to call them up first.

OceanJet - A Must-have In Your Island Hopping Itinerary!
You can choose between tourist and business class seats.
You get to relax on the upper deck, share the space with only a few passengers, get bigger leg room, bigger and wider seats equipped with a cup holder (see photo on the right) and...what else...
Ah! Access to upper deck open air section if you wish to take photos, get sunburned, or try your luck at seeing some dolphins.

What features or amenities do they have on board?
- Wi-fi - all of their ferries have this on both seat classes. You can use the travel time to book hotel reservations online or just check your online itinerary before getting to your destination.
- Food concessionaire - the prices don't come cheap, but the snacks can get your tummy filled before you get to your destination.
- Television - this is only available for airconditioned sections, obviously. The ones I remember they showed are Pacquiao fights and some horror B movies. There's still the internet if these bore you.
What are their rates?
Their rates range from PhP300.00 to PhP1,650.00, depending on your destination. I'd also like to note that they lowered their fare rates from last year's.

Their check-in time is 2:00PM, but based on a reply I got from Sugbutel, you can check in as early as 6:00AM! (As long as there's a bunk available, of course)
How much is their regular rate?
There's Business Class only PhP250.00 and First Class for PhP350.00.
What's the difference between the two?
Business Class doesn't include linen, while First Class does plus free wi-fi access and piped in music.
What do I get for the cheap rate?
You get these bed features, which I haven't heard of in our country for this very low cost:
- Overhead light - something to help you while going through your itinerary, reviewing your roadtrip map, calculating the costs of extending your stay, or simply reading a love letter, if you happen to have one with you.
- Small safety box under the pillow - something we all need when falling into deep slumber after a tiring trip. No more need to worry if it'll fall off the bed or end up getting caught in the pillowcase and leaving it there when you check out!
- Shoe ledge - so as not to trip the other lodgers, I think.
- 220v electric outlet - hopefully not located in the bed itself. I'm not sure how many outlets they have there, but this ideal for recharging your gadgets before your next trip!

But looking at their website, I think Sugbutel is a must-have in a frugal traveler's itinerary.
It's close to the pier and SM. That's good enough for me, when it comes to island-hopping.
