OceanJet's Libre Balik Promo!

Posted on 7/24/2010 by Vi Arboleda

For those planning to do some island hopping in the Visayas, I suggest you try OceanJet's Libre Balik Promo.

All you have to do is make sure that you return within 7 days and your ride back is on them!

I've used the Libre Balik promo twice (Cebu - Tagbilaran) and it's such a blessing for frugal travelers.  Imagine having to shell out only PhP800.00 instead of PhP1,600.00!

That's a lot of savings, if you ask me.  You can use that extra moolah for upto 3 days of stay at Sugbutel or another visit at Jo's Chicken.  I should've not written that down.  Now I'm wishing I'm in Cebu.

Back to the topic at hand before I impulsively book a flight to Cebu.

OceanJet has daily trips to and from Cebu, Camiguin, Dapitan, Dumaguete, Jagna, Bacolod, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, Siquijor and Tagbilaran; but the promo is applicable to these routes only:
  • Cebu - Tagbilaran and vice versa
  • Bacolod - Ilo-ilo  and vice versa
  • Cagayan de Oro - Jagna  and vice versa
  • Cagayan - Camiguin  and vice versa
  • Camiguin - Jagna and vice versa
So what if you have to pay for your fare to other destinations? At least your fare back is free, right? Right.

How do I make a reservation?

If you're in Manila or somewhere very far from any of OceanJet's ticketing offices and would like to book in advance, here's basically what you'll have to do:
  • Call OceanJet's landline via +63 (32) 255 - 7560 where you'll be given the details for the bank funds transfer;
  • Pay via the bank and fax the deposit slip, together with the following details to +63 (32) 255 - 0115:
    • Passenger's full name/s
    • Passenger's respective age/s
    • Time and date of preferred departure
    • Time and date of preferred arrival
    • Contact information
  • Wait for a confirmation message from OceanJet's Customer Support via text or SMS.
  • Present the confirmation message to OceanJet's Customer Support Specialist once at the pier.
Where's the bank transfer info?

I wish I had it, but I was informed that they only disclose it to those who are ready to make a reservation.  So yeah, you have to call them up first.

I called OceanJet and inquired on the Promo. The promo can only be availed over the counter. You have to be physically present when availing the promo and it should 2 weeks in advance before the trip. If you know someone within the area, you may ask them a favor to reserve on your behalf. I guess it's impossible to get to promo if you're in Manila.

I appreciate the heads up!

That's odd, though, because I got the info straight from OceanJet's customer care supervisor.

Thanks for dropping by! :)

Hi!

Just to help out and give more info about Ocean jet promo. I've booked the tickets online 2 weeks prior to our departure date. I was able to get the 420php round trip fare Cebu - Tagbilaran - Cebu. I paid thru bank to bank transfer.

Their customer service takes time to respond so you need constant follow up and patience if you want to book your tickets online.

I availed of that promo twice, and both times they ruin my schedule and last day of my trip. Both times they cancelled my return trip because of an engine trouble. Last time happened just recently [Feb26,2010].Good thing our flight out of Cebu was not until 5pm so even though they cancelled our original trip,9:30am, and moved us to the next trip, 11:30am, we still had enough time to get to Mactan Cebu Airport. The first we werent so lucky, we had to purchase tickets from Supercat so we can make it in Cebu in time for our flight. I dont think that i was really that unlucky that both times they really had engine troubles. Its very likely that both times they dont have the number of passengers they desire, engine trouble was just an excuse so they can cancel the trip and fit us right in to the next trip. So be careful with this promo.
